The B movie experience

B Movie is a larp about a group of actors and artists in Hollywood in the 1950s trying to make a science-fiction movie on a budget. This larp draws inspiration from the social history of the period, from the classic B Movies of the 1950s, and from the lives of real people who lived and worked in Tinsel Town during those years. B Movie is a larp for around sixty to seventy players. Each player will have two characters, one from the Storyworld, a film maker, actor, scenographer, writer or just someone who wants to be a star, and one from the B World – the person they are playing in the movie.

What is B Movie about?

Hollywood in the 1950s as a microcosm of the world today: sexism, homophobia, racism, drugs, power, the male gaze, politics, and censorship as a form of violence. It is about how misfits and outcasts can come together to make something beautiful; yes there is drama and tension and interpersonal conflict but the characters are all working together to make the film, it is important to all of them – the movie must be made – in the end it all comes together.
